Kimberly-Clark Softex's success is based on continuous improvement. For more than 40 years, our goal has been to generate sustainable added value for all stakeholders. We are committed to our Mission of enhancing quality of life for all people who use our products. Our decision to expand from feminine care into complementary products such as baby care and adult care has allowed us to spread the Kimberly-Clark Softex's Quality brand across our full product range. By doing so, we enable more consumers to lead comfortable and productive lives. We can also realize economies of scale in our own operations to speed up innovation and achieve sustainable development goals more efficiently.
ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE
ESG is becoming a key factor in Kimberly-Clark Softex's success. We actively consider economic, environmental and social aspects in our decision-making processes. With the aim to minimizing the ecological footprint of our business as much as possible, our Research & Development team strives continuously to reduce the weight of materials in our production lines using innovative technologies. In September 2019, we initiated a new partnership with a local NGO to recycle post-consumer diapers and sanitary napkins in Tangerang, Banten. We aim to learn from our experience with this pilot project to eventually scale up other
similar initiatives in future.
Since 2016, we have engaged an independent consultant, Turnkey Group, and pursued internationally recognized certification from Planet Mark to help us measure our carbon footprint and identify areas for improvement. Through successful energy saving measures in our plants, we have already reduced scope 1 and scope 2 carbon emissions by 3.6% and 7.2% in 2017 and 2018 respectively compared with the baseline. Our goal is to further reduce scope 1 & 2 carbon footprint by an additional 10% over the next few years.
We also have Softex CARE Club (SCC) that is responsible for our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Through the SCC committee, employees from all functions and levels of our Company take an active role in deployment of our CSR budget. In recent years, SCC volunteers have made valuable contributions to the communities we serve by helping to renovate orphanages and elderly care homes, providing basic sanitation facilities for rural villagers, and arranging free cataract surgery for people-in-need who would otherwise suffer from debilitating impairments to their vision.
SCC is also forging partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the Happy Hearts Foundation in order to have an even more impactful role. We are helping to rebuild kindergartens around Indonesia as part of a national program to support early childhood development. So far, we have rebuilt one kindergarten in Karawang, West Java and one kindergarten in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. In recognition of SCC's hard-work and dedication, we were honored to receive Indonesia's CSR Initiative Award – Employee Volunteering Category from MIX Magazine, SWA Media Group in September 2019.

UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS ("SDGs")
Kimberly-Clark Softex supports the United Nation's 2030 SDGs Agenda for Sustainable Development. Throughout our Indonesia-based operations and our international value chain, we aspire to contribute towards all 17 goals, particularly those concerning Good Health & Wellbeing (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12) and Climate Action (SDG 13).
Going forwards, we aim to provide regular and comprehensive disclosure of our sustainability performance in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Standards.
