Kimberly-Clark Softex Planted 4,500 Mangroves Seedlings in Commemoration of World Tree Day

In honor of World Tree Day on 21 November 2021, Kimberly-Clark Softex, in collaboration with Sentral Sistem Consulting (Central Mangrove Rehabilitation), planted 4,500 mangrove seedlings in Beting Village, Pantai Bahagia Village, Muara Gembong District, Bekasi Regency. The location was chosen because of the severe abrasion that left hundreds of families homeless. The abrasion was initially caused by the massive conversion of mangrove areas into fish farming ponds which led to significant mangroves loss as the green belt. There are at least 1,000 hectares of areas in Kampung Beting that require mangrove replanting to reduce the impact of abrasion.

49 volunteers of Softex Care Club (SCC) Kimberly-Clark Softex, Sentral Sistem Consulting, Pokdarwis Alipbata, and the local community participated in the Mangrove planting activity. Carrying the theme "TREEMAKASIH", the program showcased Kimberly-Clark Softex gratitude to trees in our planet for producing oxygen and reducing carbon emissions for the better survival of humans and other living creatures.

SCC Advisor, M. Zaenal Abidin, conveyed that this planting activity is a tangible manifestation of Kimberly-Clark Softex's concern and commitment to preserving the environment. Through this activity, Kimberly-Clark Softex hopes to benefit the broader community, especially Kampung Beting villagers, to help reduce the impact of abrasion. On this occasion, Sentral Sistem Consulting also shared a token of appreciation to Kimberly-Clark Softex for driving the initiative. "A big thanks to Kimberly-Clark Softex for their dedication to the environment, for working together to help overcome the abrasion problem in the Muara Gembong area," said Imanuel Iman, Owner of Sentral Sistem Consulting.
